Although inconvenient for a few residents, this sounds like a good solution to a big problem.

As for us inland residents, I wish that they would make a detour through the woods when we have road construction!
That would be fun!
 
Could be a good oppertunity to make a few bucks. You know some moron will have the "family truckster" out there stuck tearing up the beach. Go out and sit with a few straps and a surf rod. Fish until someone needs fished out of the sand. $10-$15 bucks a pop and you get to spend the day fishing.
