Hey-
Wanted to find out if any of the local shops wanted to host a rocklight workshop.
The local shops get the benefit of having us 4x4 a$$ clowns in or around the store ($$$$$$$$$). We get the benefit of the knowledge and guidance on how to mount, wire and get a set of rock lights working for the shorter days out on the trail.

This could also be done at someone's place who has a lot of land for all of us to show up and work. This could be done as a workshop/ Meet and Greet.
I don't have the land or I'd offer up.

whatcha all think?

As some of you know, I recently moved here from Phoenix.
I was part of a group out there called the Arizona Virtual Jeep Club (AZVJC).
They had the workshop that I am suggesting we do.
I am not trying to spam, but wanted those who are curious, to see the feedback and interest generated.

I wanted to do this out there, but was in the process of packing my stuff to move here!

I'd like to know what you fellow NC4x4 members think.

shoot...if that ever got scheduled, I'd show up...

just because I'd finally get off my procrastinating tail and rewire my lights...they worked for awhile, but I cut the wires in half (intentionally) when we swapped in the Atlas, and I've never gone back to rewire them...

lights are there, switches are there...but no electricity flowing...:D

Im a little backed up right now, though I could host when I finish up a few customers rigs'. If someone would step to the plate and coordinate, Im willing to schedule something.

door3......

If you would like to schedule this I would be willing to to host it assuming you get it setup. Give me a shout at the number below. I will be out of town thurs/fri/sat/sun but should be back in on monday if we don't touch base tomorrow.

Give me a call.

Thanks
Andy

StudNuts-
I am in Charlotte, so I think I'll pass on the trip to Raleigh to do the lights, but if you want someone to schedule it/ manage it, you'll need to figure out how many vehicles you"ll be able to have on your property.
The folks coming will need the lights, relays, switches and other stuff needed to complete the rocklight install. The big thing is that there are several people there that know how to install lights and relays to guide us nonknowledgeable folks.
If you want to have a lunch- get a head count, get people who will committ to and bring burgers, dogs, salads condiments etc. Your space is needed to make this work, the other folks coming can bring the other stuff.
Set a date several weeks out and let the board know how many people you can hold at one time.
Do a write up and post it- oh yeah have fun too!

CRS stepping up!

 :bounce: Sweet!
Andy has offered to host!
I'll be out of town through Friday, so I'll call you Monday.

To the rest of you-
once we set a date, who wants to come to CRS to spend some time doing this? I want to get a headcount. I know people will fall out that say they are in.
Any big events coming up that we need to schedule around- NASCAR, Home and garden show:flipoff2: , anythingelse?
Stay tuned.

I would like to make it out to this event. I am in Charlotte so CRS is a great location, if I can just figure out how to get over to that side of the street since the put the %^&$ train tracks down the center of South Blvd....

Anyway...make sure you schedule around this...

you need to spend more time on the backroads...:D

The only thing you really need to schedule around, is the "club" next door...just make sure they are NOT having a bikini car wash (not that it's crowded, it's just N-A-S-T-Y!!!!!!!)

Or go to the next light = turn left
Take the first road *past* the office park = turn left
IIRC, this will deadend = turn left

CRSU will be on the left...

If CRS will indeed be hosting this, then for scheduling, the weekends of Oct 14-15 and Oct. 28-29 are out too since Andy and I will be out of town for weddings. Please keep those weekends in mind too in case we forget to change the message on the answering machine at the shop. Just don't want anyone to get upset that they aren't getting a call back. We'll probably be gone Thursday through Monday of those weekends.

The 28th is the last leg of our 2006 out-of-town-wedding marathon, so any weekend after that should be available.

several options...

the blue route is what you just said...go past CRS, left on Scaleybark, left on Conway, left on Hollis...

if you're coming down Clanton, you could follow the purple route, and take a left on South, an immediate right on Hartford, then a right on Anson, and a right on Hollis...

if you're coming from downtown, you can also take the green route, by turning at the stoplight (Burger King on the corner), right on Melbourne, right on Auburn, right on Hartford, left on Anson, right on Hollis...

FYI...Marsh runs all the way to Park, and Scaleybark pulls off of Woodlawn, in case anybody is coming from that direction...

For those that would rather not risk getting lost in the neighborhoods behind the shop, you can always just make a right onto South Blvd (from Clanton Rd), wave as you drive past the shop, go up to the light at Scaleybark and make a U-turn, all the while cursing the placement of the light rail in the middle of South Blvd.

Can you mail me some copies of that map with each route noted on separate maps Greg? Also if you could make those laminated folding maps that would be great! Thanks a million!

Well then Mr. Cartographer, why don't you do better and post it? I know, it is easier to criticize someone elses work than to do your own. :flipoff2:
