can i drive on the road with rocks i wanna run 52's and rockwells. dont wanna dd it but i will sometimes. are they ok to run the hwy with pinion breaks and proper sterring, and do you have to run hydrolic sterring with them?

You would have to be pretty big to be riding on them. With rocks they will stick outside the fenders too. Not sure your local laws but if you passed through va in that you would make the national news haha. Pinion brakes overheat and catch fire if you tried to stop at highway speeds. You also need atleast hydro assist and a killer steering box brace. I believe pinion brakes are illegal for road use too.

You can run them on the street. There's a truck around Hickory that has that setup.

You will need wheel brakes and atleast hydro assist steering.

in sc as long as your inside the lines its ok lol im putting them under an 89 suburban. i had the biggest dd around here and sold it now i wanna do another one but bigger. im going to be asking a lot of questions as i go through this one.

Having 54's on a S10 Blazer on Rock's, It's not fun to attept it on the street. It has full hydro and being that, it can be a bit unresponnsive in a quick turning situation.

i run a set of 48 michelins on ifs lift it cant get much more scary than that. and i heard that about hydro sterring i didnt know if i could run crossover on them.

Some of this is reiteration but:

1. Pinion brakes would get to hot unless you plan to drive 20 mph everywhere. You need wheel brakes.
2. You don't have to run full hydro or even hydro assist. I have driven on the street with 49" Iroks and had neither but it's just plain dumb. 52" Michelins are heavy fawkers. You really really really should have hydro assist. Don't do full hyrdo and drive on the street.

Do it right; wheel brakes, cross over steering, hydro assist. Been driving my jeep on rockwells since 05 on the street. Drove it to Ricky's mud bog last year, thru it twice, then back home. Only reason it's down now is carb and ignition. Drove it to all Concord meet and greets I attended. Scott

I have a standard 4 spd so I stay off the I85, have to tach it to high to run with traffic. Fine for all other roads, if you have overdrive you could probably run I85.

Not saying mines right (used to get made fun of by some rover driver all the time that had all chevy parts), but it works for me and is driven around a good bit.

Carb's now fixed, now on to electrical gremlins.

is there a simple way to put breaks on the wheels like a kit as is it ok to use the pinion break in the rear and wheel breaks in front.

I'm putting the F700/F550 brake setup on the Kraken in the next week or so. Cost so far is $600.

would still be peppy with 52's on it or would it be better on
46" 's as far as get up and go or would there be to much gear for a 46" tire

If you're going to mud with it take off the michelins and put tractor tires on...the michelins are an AT tire and would probably suck in the mud. Put them back on for street use.

for street use would you use leafs or coilovers? will coilovers let the body roll to much?
coilovers will ride a lot better than leafs, you will need to use sway bars if you plan to do it correctly. leafs will be cheaper than coils and if they are not too arched they will ride ok.
