I think it would just be alot easier to ask the guy to stop doing it.

Ive lost a few room mates as friends due to pranks like this, for the exact same reasons (sleeping all day, slamming doors, being loud while Im trying to do homework, etc..) and Ive learned my lesson from that.

I agree with Macdaddy, worst thing I ever did was live with my best friend, now we don't even speak and that was 8 years ago.

same her, except we're still friends. we pretty much hated each other when we lived together tho. i like to stay up all night, go out, party, etc. he didnt. i would come in at 3-4am being "loud", then he would get up at 7-8am and i would be in the bed with a hellacious headache hating his guts for turning on lights and making noise while getting ready to go. also, it didnt help that i can be a slob and he's a complete neat freak.

we're cool now, but don't live together anymore.
