Alright, mentioned toa guy I work with that my tires were getting Rotated and Balanced today.

He has a TJ on 33 BGT MT that he bought from Discount Tire. After having them mounted, he installed Wheel Spacers himself.

Went back to Discount Tire to have the Tires Rotated and Balanced on their schedule mileage and they pulled one tire and stopped. Said they can't go any further since he had wheel spacers.

I'm sure it's an liability Policy of some sort, but had anyone heard that kinda crap before?

Anyone know anyone in the Winston area that will rotate and balance for him. Short of removing spacers, taking the Jeep back to Discount tires and then reinstalling.... just trying to avoid that PITA .

uh-uh. no way. Unless they are the shitty slip-over spacers, they can't do that. Bolt-on spacers are OEM on many Porsche's, not to mention, every 1-ton dually.. will they not balance those?

I cannot fawking stand when some lazy ass tries to get out of doing their job and makes up some bullshit.

I went through some shit with Sam's club and wound up with the regional manager who was NOT pleased that I had to drive to W-S to get tires.. Amazingly, the same places that supposedly couldn't do duallies suddenly could!

I had a local Discount Tire balk at mine...but they did them anyway...

last time I had mine done, I just took the tires up there in the back of my truck...

most of it has to do with the bad rep that the term "wheel spacers" brings...which has to do with the slip-on spacers Rich mentioned...it's been continued do to a lack of education/knowledge by those working at the tire shops, and liability is indeed the main concern...
