last week i built a set of bumpers for a rubi. here are a few pics. i built them from 2x4x1/4" and the tire carrier is 2x2" the funny looking mounts on the front are for a tow bar he is going to use behind his rv.

Damn the TJ's and their simplistic bumpers! They look great though. You've been busy rebuilding Mexi's YJ, fredo's engine and these bumpers...

You still want to make a WJ rear bumper?

on the next one I would suggest a gusset on the pivot for the tire carrier.
Very nice work welds look good.

thanks! i always put everything i have into the parts i build for people only if i put as much effort into my own junk. i had to think hard about putting a gusset on the pivot but it would only give good support in the closed position and i have a rub block welded on top of the bumper to support any sag. i also planned for the load and built the carrier high on the latch end so that the tire weight will bring it down to the right position over time . i put my 246# butt on it and it opend and closed perfect . the bolt is also 8" long so it is supported through the entire bumper not just the top.

I need one of them rear bumpers! Or maybe you can help me to get mine to swing out instead of me having to lift the 35" tire every time I want to get to the back of the jeep. Mine sags alot!

I built my own rear bumper/tire carrier for the yj. I used the Staco latch for the tire carrier. Looks good man

nice work man.

interested in building just a rear tire carrier? I have the bumper....just didnt have the money at the time for a swinging tire carrier.

If interested, let me know!

Again, nice work.

nice job on the swingout, those ones that use a trailer spindle are totally gangster. that setup looks much better

thanks . i had thought of using the trailer stub just to make it easy i just could not bring myself to do it i dont like my parts looking like they were put together at a hardware store. and its better if i just tig the hub and bearing races from scratch so i can get it low to clear the door hinge. i have a high lift mount going on a carrier now ill post pics when its done. i am thinking of a skid to go in the hitch with a roller to make it smoother walking off ledges .
