DIY Universal Radius / Long Arm Kit

Does anyone have experience with this kit? Thinking about using it to SAS my Tacoma. I know I’ll need a panhard bar as close to parallel as possible to my drag-link, and I’ll need to setup coilovers to fit the amount of travel I want. But can I just buy this, weld it up, throw it under truck, and expect it to work reasonably well? Will be on a 97 Tacoma, not looking for much lift, just enough to run 37’s (35’s until I can afford new).

WFO has a reallllllly nice Tacoma SAS setup. If you haven't looked at it yet, you should.

Badass? Yes
Worth it? Yes
Pricey? Yes
Awesome fit and finish? Also...Yes

It has all the things, checks all the boxes, and they've done all the fitting and guess work for you!

Not sure what axle you plan to use, but the 05+ SD axles are simply badass...and cheap. You might find that you won't come out much cheaper piecing stuff together than you would just buying that kit. Worth thinking about. Plus...look how awesome it is :D

So, it costs 4x as much and doesn’t fit the axle I already have? Sign me up

Which axle are you using? I would just buy things separately unless you know you can utilize that other upper control arm axle bracket. Figure you would need a truss over the diff to mount anything.

Or you could ditch radius arms and build a 3 link like a grown up :D

I’m working with a wagoneer dana 44. After looking at 3-links suspensions it doesn’t appear to be very difficult to set up. Any good advice, other than to buy things separately (not an idea that I particularly like)?

Look at the Barnes 3 link kit and pair it with the appropriate joints. Did this on my XJ with great results.

Like skyhighZJ mentioned just go through Barnes and buy the 3 link kit with the joints you want. I ended up triangulating my lower links a bit so I ordered some of their angled lower axle link brackets. With coilovers you can fit
In a pretty long trac bar as well.

Not to start down the slippery slope of every project, but I would probably plan on remaking the frame from the engine mounts forward if you solid axle it. It’s really hard to keep a Tacoma low with reasonable uptravel without doing so.

I’d probably vote for a 3 link. I’ve never been really thrilled with the Offroad performance of a radius arm setup.

They apparently have a kit for a Dana 44 as well, just for reference. There's some pictures on it, if you want to look or get ideas. Says 5.5" of lift. Not sure how low you're trying to keep it.

This one is on an SD 60 and 40s. Keeping that in mind, it looks pretty low. At least, not toooo high anyway.

who needs uptravel? It can ride on the bumps if necessary. Looking at the WFO kit is definitely pushing me toward a 3-link.

After getting deep enough into mine today to realize the stock transmission crossmember will have to go, I’ve gone back and looked at the WFO crossmember and am leaning towards using it since it has the lower mounts built in. Will need to go back and do a little measuring and see how long that would put the lower links.

It's pretty sexy, ain't it?

Depends on much it needs to be modified to work with dual cases. But even so, it looks like it would simplify a couple of other things.

I feel like you could definitely call them and ask. I'm sure they've put some thought of stuff like that in to it. I know they make the crossmembers for the 2500HD trucks to they'll clear an NV273 if people want to do that swap.
