The time has come to ditch the carpet interior on the 4Runner.
now b/c i do drive it during the winter, and there's alot of heat off the road in summer, I'd like to keep some degree of cover/insulation on the floors. Also good for hiding wires!

Suggestions? Maybe a big sheet of rubber, or really thick vinyl, cut to shape?

Im pretty sure you could find a vinyl replacement rug from JCwhitney or somewhere... thats what Id do... .02

If you do a rubber mat, just remember that it will hold water under it indefinitely. (Well until it rusts a hole in the floor.)

yeah need to get something that wont hold water under it.
i took all the carpet out of my 77 F150 and done the rhino liner inside. its nice for hosing it out when it gets muddy, but i kinda wish id taken a different route now due to the heat that comes thru the floor from my tranny and such, and there is no dampening from sound either. if i crank the stereo up its sounds like a radio in a tin can, lol.
if i was you id check into the vinyl that mountainTJ mentioned or a piece of rubber cut to shape, and still do some roll on bedliner under that.
