BFG AT ko
will last 50k if you rotate them, one of the best tires in snow, and will do decent in anything else.

sorry Chris, gotta dissagree with that from personal experience. When I bought the CJ it had BFG At's on it. the first snow we had after that I couldn't get out of the parking lot for fear of sliding into other cars. Had to turn around and get the XJ with it's factory tires that did fine. The next year I had changed the tires on the CJ for some Wild Country MT's and I had no problems in the snow.

thats my personal experience, but I have watched a buddy with some BFG AT's in the muddy rocks amaze everyone with only about 50% tread at most.

I run them on all of my company vehicles and have never been wanting for more traction in the snow. Last ice strom I was towing 7k pound generators to cell sites in the mountains and got it stuck once.
I have had great experience with them. Do you think maybe the wide tires on the Cj just couldn't bite the way the smaller ones on the XJ did?

Wild Spirit Radial DTX's.

I just can't say enough good things about them. Got'em on the XJ (235/75/15) and the CJ-7 (31x10.50). Great AT's! Very decent in mud. Work awesome in snow, are pretty decent in ice (are able to accept studs, though I haven't used any). Very good wear too. They're also available in a M/T style that seems to be pretty good.

I have had good experience with the bgf a/ts. I would go with them for a DD. You could also go with a sport king a/t. I have had friends with those tires and they last for a long time.

I used to have the old BFG AT on my CJ, bought them used with about half tread. They wear great, but I thought they were a little sketchy in the snow. I was able to take them up the tough spots at URE (Daniel, Dutch John, and the RML portion leading to Kodak) in the mud...you know how slick it gets. I think that had a lot to do with air pressure though, and maybe some right foot :D

WAYYYYYYYY back when my Cj was my DD, I run the BFG AT's. I thought they did great, in the snow too. But, I did not run the tire pressure they had on the side. I run between 20 and 25 lbs. Only complaint I had was in mud, the packed up pretty bad, but did great in the snow for me. Just my .02

I fourth or fifth the BFG AT's. An awesome snow tire (should have the snow stick to them, that's how you get grip.) And get great mileage out of them. Pretty good wet traction too.

I ran the bfg mud terrains they were loud on the road but lasted fifty five thousand miles with proper pressure and rotation.
the at's got about the same. then i got a set of cooper discoverer tires. they were a lot cheaper and did better than either of the previous tires on the trail. on the road they handled good, and were quiet, and in the snow they worked great. kind of an inbetween tread with larger spacing than the at's but smaller than the mud terrains, and the lugs aren't offset so they were quiet on the road. they cleared out pretty good in the mud and did well on the trails. was an all around good tire especially for the price.
so you may want to check into pricing on the coopers now.
they have about forty five thousand on them now and have a pretty good bit of tread left on them. I expect no less than fifty out of them except one where I had a bad shock and it let the tire wobble and cupped it out.

I had BFG mud terrains on my dd Bronco and they were a good compromise of street manners and decent off road/snow capabilities. Much better traction than the all terrains

I have bfg at and they do great on the trail. Had them up at ure a few weeks ago in the mud, i did very little slipping (at 12 psi which is TO low for those tires) they also handle great on the street.

the discoverer was an all terrain tread but very aggressive
I ran 33x 12.50 15 and they measured out to be 34x 12.50 x 15
rode good got good mileage did well on the trail
and were cheaper than the bfg's by about 40 or 45 a tire at the time of purchase
I'll go out and get the sidewall info later if I can think about it.

I 19th BFG A/Ts. I've got something like 45,000 miles on mine, and they've still got about 25% tread left. For DD/weekend warrior duty, I don't think there's a better choice.

Does anyone know where the in the hell they sell these tires in the triad?????? I'v seen em, heard they're much cheaper than most like $125 for a 33X12.50 just can't find anyone that sells the damn things. And they're American Made......

I got the cooper lt discoverer at a tire store in the the Waxhaw NC at a local tire store there. sorry no info on the other areas.
when I bought mine they were like 50 bucks a tire cheaper or real close to it and have seemed to last as long if not longer than the bfg's
the bfg's are great tires though for what they are.

I'm running Coopers, and they are great on the highway, wear well, but have wimpy sidewalls...I just tore a 3" hole in mine at URE...
:(
