I hear ya on the family event, but counter point - all you have to do is just tell your security to tighten up or slack on certain thing per the event, your paying them so they do what you want them to do. The trick is not to hire on duty police, they feel self entitled to do what they want and charge out the rear, hire private security and they can handle the event.
Case in point our sled pulls are extremely family friendly events, i'm talkin I hardly even play rock and cant use radio edit country cause its not strict enough at those events they are that family oriented . . . well, we tell the security to be waaaay more tight at those events, we've done three so far this year and drawn 2500, then 3400, then 2200 consecutively.
then flash to the city limits saloon back to back pull i'm gonna do on the 24th, its a bar, 18+ only show, there will probably be a $200 cash bikini mud wrestling contest mid way throu, so the security will basically just be bouncers . . . pretty much like what it is at Mooresville Dragstrip except even more slack
anyway, yea def hook it up with private/off duty type security if you ever get the need for it, they work for you so you tell them what you want and orient the event to who you need it to
the trick is to instead of spending so much time trying to prevent the worst, simply plan for and completely expect the worst so when it happens no one cares cause its taken care of that quickly
