Thinking about getting Rustys 4.5 xj lift for one of the many in the stable.. seems like a pretty good deal for what all you get (650$) even a adj. trac bar... Just wondering if anyone has experience with rusty componets or this lift..?? Thanks for any info

people are always bashing the Rusty's stuff, but I havent had any problems with mine. I bought some 3.5" leafs and coils used, no tracbar though...I think the Rustys tracbar bracket is one item in particular people talk crap about.

I should add that I also had Rusty's fixed LCA's, also bought used with the springs. It was fine, but the front seemed low to me. After about a year, I added 1" coil spacers, which kicked off the death wobbles. One by one I swapped out front end parts. What finally eliminated the wobbles was getting rid of the LCA's, replacing them with some RE adjustables. The old bushings seemed tight, dunno what was up, I adjusted the RE's to match the length of the fixed Rusty's, was just happy the DW's were gone.

The Rusty's springs seem to flex well offroad. Get front swaybar disconnects, ditch the rear swaybar.

The adj trackbar is crap. I broke mine 2 times but then upgraded to a rockkrawler. Never used the springs or control arms though

Personally, I like the hell out of their products. I've never had a problem with what I've bought and they ship your stuff really fast too. Plus they have been good to me with their customer support, and usually ship some freebies along with the stuff you order like shirts, hats, stickers. I haven't used the track bars tho, so I have no idea about those, but you cant judge all their parts by the one that sucks.

10-4 thanks for the info! Its seems like one of the better deals i have found, Iv had a 4.5 Rough country b4 and it lived up 2 the name ROUGH! I just dont Know that I can justify spending over 1000$ on a Rubicon lift... Ill keep in mind the trac bar is crap and possibly Lca's r 2 but I keep looking I might be able to pc together somthing with better parts.. And yea I Always throw the rear sway bar away and uaually the front 2..Sway bars r 4 pussys!... Its a Jeep not a Corvette.. I plan to run 4.5 with 34x10.5 Ltbs or 33 Ltbs with major Trimming Will let ya know how she turns out anyone else with knowledge of the rustys springs let me know.. Thanks

The only problem i've had with Rusty's is the High clearance long arms. they are very sloppy (in the thread in peice) brand new and will get worse over time. Don't expect good customer service either. Other than that the quality IMO is parallel to Rough country, which I've always liked.

I've ran Rusty's stuff on my XJ for years. Once he upgraded the adj. trackbar design its much better than before and i still havn't hurt my new one. Still running his springs and shackles and holding up very well. I've also had awesome customer service from him.

I've got their entire long arm lift on my jeep as well as a couple other parts and I can't stress enough how shitty their product line and service is.
Many of the different jeep parts suppliers use the same springs (and rebadged shocks too), so that's not exactly a valid comparison.

I could have bought any lift kit available for my XJ when building it. After meeting the owner (Rusty) at the dixie run in tellico. I think it was october of 2005, I bought everything I could from them (9" coils, longarm kit, steering kit, track bar and HD mount, steering box brace, trac bar brace, brake line, shocks, shackles, etc . I feel and having owned it and used it for years, it was a good choice. I think the people complaning, abuse the hell out of things, and get pissed when they brake. I have not broken a thing that has come from Rustys and have only good things to say about what they build.
Of course this is my experience, not all are the same.

I've been happy with everything i've ever purchased from Rusty.

I have the 4.5 and everything is pretty good. Don't waste your time putting the track bar on. I broke it 4 times. 3 times with mild wheeling and the other time was on the road doing 45mph. Not fun. Get a good one with hiems.

He might be the coolest guy in the world, but his company still knowingly sells suspension parts that break driving on the street. Then won't warranty them.

Their customer service sucks to. I ordered some leaf spring bushings from them for their leafs and a month later they finally sent the wrong ones. take note they have my money. After talking with them they were going to send the right ones.
Well, for six months I called the:poop: out of them talking to Rusty everytime, "there on there way, on the truck.'" Finally when they came , they were used. I let them know what I thought, but they still kept my money.

I have the Rusty's 6.5 long travel kit (long arms, leaf pack, etc) and love the shit out of it! BUT I also have supporting mods to keep it all together.HD trac bar with heim joints and all steering components converted to heims. BUT I also am only a weekend warrior. I drive it everyday and usually wheel on the weekends. Haven't broken anything yet (knock on wood). And its been close to a year maybe a little more with no problems. +1 for Rusty's...

I have broken my Rusty's track bar numerous times, I got his upgraded HD frame mount and bushing, it lasted almost to the end of Daniel. I now have a RE frame mount and a modified RE track bar from a TJ.

I have other Rusty's parts on my XJ, 4.5" lift, front tow hooks and rear taillight housings. I have always had good service from them until his HD track bar bushing broke in the same spot the tie rod ends broke the threads, I kept telling him that my bar is too short and he said it is for up to 6" of lift which mine is at. When I ordered my lift kit I already explained to them what I was doing and said everything should be fine. I had enough of my track bar which has now been cut up never to be installed on another vehicle. When I called Rusty to see what was going to be done with my HD bushing end he said to send it back and he will decide if he is going to warranty it, I told him that was unacceptable and that I would not be buying his products any more.

ordered my KJ lift from rustys yesterday.. This will be the 7th Rusty's KJ lift i have personally installed.. I will continue to do business with him.

Thanks for all the good info Iv weighing my options and I think Ill just spend the extra dough and get the 4.5 Rubicon express w full leafs I think Ill be happier with that in the long run.. with upper and lower Lca's trac bar and brake lines its worth the extra coin.. plus out of the 5 xjs iv owned Iv never had what you would call a quality lift, its always been peiced 2gether and or used..

i have a 4.5 on my xj... i'm happy with it, but if you're going to run 34s, you may want to add a 2 in coil spacer and some shackles. my 32s rub with the lift and spacers when its flexin. you'll like the lift though.

i have a 6.5 on my xj from them and no problems so far it's been on there about 4 months. i drove it over a thousand miles both ways on a road trip. also the sye kit i ordered from them was missing the speedo ring gear. i called them and they had one sent to me in like 2 days i personally like their customer service
