I'm looking at an item (less than $100) posted for sale on another board (Full size Bronco). The guy is from Oregon. I have had no experience buying stuff from an individual in another state and of course I'm concerned about how to make the transaction without getting screwed. Have you guys got any experience or good ways to handle this? Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Charles

from what i understand, get a money order through the US Post office, and if you get screwed it's mail fraud.
keep records, (on file or printed) of the conversations about the transaction you had with him.
search the threads to see if he's sold anything/much else there, and if people have been getting ripped off by him, you will know it because they will be pissed!
good luck!

Look at his posts on there and unless you feel comfortable dont buy it. What part is it? You could problay find it local if you look hard enough.

Thanks for the fast replies! Those are good suggestions.
I'm looking for an Edelbrock Performer 400 intake for my 79 Bronco 351M. I've posted here previously with no luck yet. Maybe I'll still find one local.
Thanks! :)

check his post counts, see what he has sold before.....if he has sold anything prior and there hasnt been any negative feedback on the site, then i wouldnt worry too much about it.....

see if you can use the paypal buyer protection thingy, i dont know what all it entails, but that will get your $ back if he stiffs you on the part

also, regarding his presence on the other boards.....if he seems to be a fairly prolific poster, then he probably values his reputation on there and wouldnt want to purposely screw someone over

my $0.02
