So I pulled into the Ford place in Charlotte looking in the used section to find a truck and a salesman runs me down. I say to him I'm looking for a F-350 crew cab dually 7.3 liter diesel etc... and repeated it must be a 7.3 PSD. He looked at me and asked are you looking to buy a new one or a used one? I almost busted out laughing. I'm not a know it all about trucks but most of us knows they haven't made 7.3 PSD in a few years and him being a Ford dealer salesman should have really known that. I thought that was funny. I pointed this out to him and he said "really?". Now what makes him think I would buy a truck from him if he is that uneducated about the product he is selling? So the question is does anyone recommend a Ford or Dodge dealership that won't just try to fill me full of BS? I'm just tired of getting the run around and being talked to like he's reading straight out of a salesman book. It took me almost two months to buy my wife's new camry last year before I found a salesman that wasn't full of it. Anyone else run into this crap? End of rant.

had a salesman give me a whole load on this powerstroke one time. About how great a truck it was and had every service was done at this dealership, etc. I then pointed out the california plates on the truck. "Oh..i mean every service since the guy moved here". You can bet they will never get my business.

He's a freaking salesman...... he doesn't drive a truck, much less know what you use one for. You should have asked him about the escape or edge. I'll bet he could have told you all about the vanity mirror and cup holders.... and how the hybrids that get worse mileage than my dad's camry will save the planet.

Half those guys don't know crap about cars, it's just a paycheck.

I went to look at a Pathfinder with my wife once and the guy literally showed me everything from the cruise control to the spot in the overhead console to store your sunglasses.

I just wanted him to shut up, we left that place really fast.

I do know if you are in the market for a Toyota go to Toyota of Boone. PM me for the salesmans name he was super to wor with. I agree with what yall are saying. Most of them are idiots.

Not much on fords but I will give 7.3 its due they are great engines. Everybody Ive talked to say the 6.0 and 6.4 are a pile of:poop: and are lookin for the 7.3.

Why do you need a dealership and salesman to talk to?
Use the power of the internet and just find the truck you want online, so you know where it is, then go right to that place and tell him what you'll pay for it.
Most car dealers are listed on AutoTrader and similar 'net search engines iwth their whole inventory. Just search there. Or go to dealer's website and search their inventory online. sicne you know exactly what you want, it should be easy.

Talk to Phillip Warren at Steve White Motors in Hickory. He is my brother in law and is pretty fair with his customers. He doesn't give them away, but he isn't ripping people off either. I don't know what their inventory is like, but he may could find something for you. Granted he doesn't know everything about every car/truck, but he won't try to BS you either

Took me 4 months to buy my 07 Tahoe. Finally got it from Randy Marion where we have always gotten our Chevy's......

Ratlabguy: I was just killing a day riding around Charlotte and just stopped in the dealership. I do search but just can't find what I want exactly. I would really prefer to buy from an individual so I could find out some history of the truck.

Rockcity: I've never talked to Phillip at Steve White but I've talked to a few of the salesmen there and they are some of the worst ones I've delt with. I even had a few words w/ the sales manager there cause he wouldn't even give me a price on a truck I was looking at. I had my sick son w/ me that day and it was 100 degrees that day and he kept on and on saying "now if I give you a good price on that truck will you commit to it today" I kept telling him no cause I don't commit to a big purchase like that on the spur of the moment. My wife hadn't even seen the truck. What was he thinking? I never did get a price. That is how they get you by pressing you but I feel like I'm a smarter consumer than that.

I had a 7.3 Dually until last year and have a 6.4 now. The 6.4 will out pull the 7.3 all day long. Don't get me wrong I loved the 7.3 but so far the new motor has been pretty impressive (except for fuel mileage:eek:).

What happened?
they offfered free oil change for life when i bought my truck. they done all my service the motor blowed up and when i pulled the intake off ther was an inch and a half of crystalized oil in the block from changing the filter and topping it off with oil and about a year before that i took it in for for transmission service (told them not to flush it just to serivce it) a week later transmission come out of it

I've had nothing but good experiences at SW motors...

sorry you all had trouble there. Phillip hasn't been there too long, about 8 months or so, so I can't say about service before that.

I only buy used vehicles, and won't buy from a dealer.

im sure phillip is the person you say he is its just hard to use sw after having all the trouble out of them

Dealing with the stealerships is hit and miss....When buying my 07 Tahoe I went to City Chevrolet in Charlotte and the was very up front with the guy that we were buying. He took us on a test drive, told us he would call the following week since we were not buying it that day, and have us come in to talk. Never called back so he lost out. Must have been selling way too many cars at the time and didn't have to worry about my 50K.....

When I was looking to buy a truck I went up to Creedmoor to see a truck they had up there at the Chevy dealer (can't remember the name of the place now, but only Chevy dealer in Creedmoor). They had a beautiful 2003 Sierra that I loved, and it was close to my price range. I went up and looked at it and they had $12,995 on it. The salesman was super nice to me, but once I made my offer the sales manager came out and basicallyu refused to sell it to me for any less than $12,995. I even offered him $12,000 and my Park Avenue (which was worth about $500 at auction) and he wouldn't do it.

I was amazed, wouldn't even come off it $500 to make the sale.

Oh well, I bought a truck I liked better for less money. I told the guy I found this truck when I was negotiating with him and he said "well, maybe you should just go buy that truck" so two days later I rented a car, drove to Warrenton, VA and did just that - for $3500 less than his truck!

They haven't been around long enuf to really know how they'll last.It will be hard to beat the 7.3's
