I bought a set of 86 sammy axles for a mini buggy project. I checked the ratio by marking and rotating the input pinion and counting one tire rotation. I'm getting 1.8 to 1. Is that right or am I missing something......

Spider gears are moving. They should be 3.73 if they are stock. No way in hell they are 1.80. I'll bet you a  they are 3.73.

You can try spinning the tires together and count pinion turns. You just have to make sure both tires move the exact same. Doing the math you do come up with something like 3.73 but If I'm not mistaken most sammi's come with a 4 something gear.

3.73 is def. most common. You are correct in your method explanation though.

All Sammi's came stock with 3.73 R&P.

Is it the tracker maybe that came with the 4 something ratio? I could have sworn that one of them did. But I may be wrong.

Yeah, the Trackers and Sidekicks came with 4.62 or 5.12 depending on the which transmission they had.

BUUUUT ... the 4.62 or 5.12 can be put into a Sammi. :bounce2:

hold one tire solid and turn free tire 2x, count pinion turns. should be 3 3/4 turns= 3.73
