hey everyone, im looking to build a 92 samurai for a good street/trail rig. its already bobbed with a fuel cell, 3 inch spring reversal and 1" body lift. everything else is stock.

I have tons of Jeep suspension parts laying around and was considering buying some perches and other essentials and possibly doing a full coil conversion.

As far as the engine I have no idea what to do. I have a fully built brand new 455 olds motor pushing 500-600hp/tq but obviously that wont fit in a sammy... easily. any ideas?

ideas and previous experience greatly appreciated

yea i was told yoter axles. i may have some yj springs laying around somewhere. i guess im more worried about power. i wish i had a 350 or 4.3 somewhere. i just dont know what to do with this 455. i have so much time in it its not worth selling, haha

i was also thinking of possible doing a VW deisel swap but i dont see how it would help on the street as your not gaining much more horsepower, mostly just torque

get ya some yota axles and regear em 5.29 or even 5.71 if your worried about drivin it on the road. my buddy has a sami on yota axles, 4.10s, welded rear, YJ springs, 6.5s and 37s and it does dang good offroad.

yea. im going to test drive this thing this week. its got 35's but the guy doesnt know anything about what was done to it before he bought it. it may have 6.5's or regeared axles. who's selling toyota axles at a good price? I haven;t looked for them in awhile

im sure once you test drive it on the road youll kno real quick if its been regeard with the samll 4cyl and dirtyfiiiii's lol.

the guys says it cruises at 65-70mph with 35's so im sure its regeared, probably 6.5 in the t-case.

I'm going to look at is this week sometime. Just not sure if I really want a sammy, i would much rather have a toyota. they are just hard to find in and around boone at a decent price. whatever it is i do decide to buy it has to have heat and a sealable top. Thats my only requirments

Both of those motors are too big and too heavy for a Samurai.

Get a 1.6 8valve or 1.6 16 valve motor from a Sidekick or Tracker if you want more power.

yea, just had someone come in who said he could get me a 1.6TD IDI with the original 4-speed tranny and a new clutch for $400. Thats not a bad deal at all. it would make for a good swap engine
