sand blasting in Raleigh

Just FYI if you want to save a little money and have a compressor you can do it yourself pretty easily. I picked up a Husky sandblaster at home depot this weekend to sandblast my axle and it worked pretty well. After about 60 pounds of sand and a couple hours I got the entire housing, diff, inside tubes, etc, looking new again. My favorite part: saved $100.

Did you sandblast the insides of the tubes and the inside of the differential housing?

If so, you've probably removed enough material from the seal bosses and the bearing seats and caps to ruin that housing.

It can be fixed, but you're talking about building the surfaces back up with weld and remachining everything.

Trying to sandblast away grease and oil is usually a bad idea anyway, since it just pounds the grease into the base metal and makes painting on it and welding to it a real PITA.

just don't concentrate the blast on the seal bosses and you should be fine. Tape them up to help some and you should be ok.

If ya get it down to Greenville, NC, I'll do it for $50.

It takes about 10 minutes.

How much for an M-416 trailer, frame and tub?

Depends on the amount of rust/undercoating/etc.

A M-416 trailer, totally done, frame, tub, etc. with not any excessive rust undercoating, it'll run about $125 because of the amount of surface area. Maybe more, maybe less, depending on condition.

Got any pics?

Don't let that axle get wet!!!! It will be awful with that bare steel.
I'd like to see the final assembly on the Bronco when its done.
