I'm gonna be doing an SAS on my 99 Taco this summer using a Waggy 44, FROR SAS kit, and 5" springs. I'm trying to research the steering a little more though. I know how to do the IFS box and and the steering shaft, but what about the high steer? I know i'm gonna need new steering arms, but i can't use the regular SAS style drag link and tie rod for the pre-tacos can I?

5" springs, that thing is going to be very tall.
If you run high steer you will most likely need a one inch spacer to clear. Tube, tube adapters and TREs to build your own will most likely be your best bet.

what springs should i run to keep my 38s instead of the 5"? i've got a 6" fabtech lift on it now and a 2" BL. i'm gonna keep the rear part of the kit on the truck.

Go with coilovers and a 3 link not leaves........
For the intermediate shaft use 3/4 DOM and universals from Summit racing or CV products. I reused the splines end on the ifs box and the universal off of the steering wheel shaft. I have 2 universals and on double cardan joint in my intermediate shaft. That is a total of 4 universal joints and one pillow block bearing with no safety slip in the shaft. I did this because my engine cage and coilovers are in the way. Oh yea I also have a 3/4 rod end bolted to the cage to take the slop out of the intermediate shaft.
As for the steering from the box to the wheels I did not use hi steer, instead I decided to do a tierod over the knuckle. I used a factory pitman arm (sleeved the hole to use a bolt instead of tie rod) From there I ordered rod ends and some .250 wall tubing for my drag link and tie rod.
I got my stuff from poly performance.

Bulletproof Steering has alot of info on the site

thanks man. that really helps out alot. that would be great if you could get a good pic of the intermediate shaft.

i will as soon as i do my SAS. probably be at least a few weeks though. i'm not gonna start on it til i get all the parts.
