:confused:OK I went the Verizon air card route. On the screen when I connect or disconnect I can veiw the usage. Can anybody show an old man the Megabites and gigabites rate so I can understand it?
When I sighned up it was soooo simple, either 250 bites per month or 5 bites a month......my usage is 1065.741. WTF? Give me a breakdown in layman's terms please.:confused:

what does it say next to the bar? KB?

My bet it it's Kilobytes, if you've used it a good bit this month.
IOW 1,065 KB = 1.065 GB. IIRC Verizon has a 5 GB monthly limit?
 
notta thing, there's the confusion.
 
I looked into this a while back for my father in law and its 5 gigabytes a month or 250 Megabytes if I recall it correctly

So if you have the 5 Gigabyte plan you used only a 1000 of the allotted 5000 or if you got the 250 Megabyte plan your over by 750.

Bad math, but right idea. It's in MB so 1065 MB= 1.04 GB.

1065 KB= 1.04 MB. (the difference is cause it's 1024, not 1000, us computer people like powers of 2. :D )


you can swap the plans back and forth, with no change to 2 yr commitment. That said, I swapped to the 250 when I didn't think i was going to use it that month, then ended up going to the beach for a weekend, forgot, and it cost me ~25$ in overage so about 5$ more than leaving it on the 5GB.
Since then, I've just left it. :D

I didn't want to get into that, it's extra confusion for folks that aren't used to the stupid computer science definition of "kilo" vs the actual metric definition.

This is why the label matters. In the end they charge measured in GB, not total bytes. 5 GB = 5368709120 bytes but only 5120 MB.
Based on where the decimal is, I'd assume it's MB.
 
Thanks guys, now I am totally not confused now I think or maybe not since I completely misunderstand every thing I have not endeaver to comprehend everything said or implied or insinuated,....... I think! Or not. I understand now.

It's in MB on my bill. I was mainly just correcting that in your first post you had "KB" for the units. Then figured I better put the 1024 bit in, since if I was correcting, someone else would correct me. :D
 
I can eat a hot dog in 5 bites(if folks are around)..no napkin

3 bites when noones looking but a napkin is a must.

Oh..and since we are talking about cell phones..when is the last time any of yall actually cleaned your phone? I used some disenfectant spray on mine the other day,once I started thinking about it.

I'll bet that cell phones have more nasty germs on them than you really want next to your face.
