I’m sure some of you guys know but what are the rules about scrapping an old vehicle if the title is not in my name? My bosses brother passed away and left him an old clapped out s10 and he asked me if I knew anyone that would haul it off, I told him I would and just need to know what to do about the title. Thanks in advance.

I'm not an expert but I'm pretty sure anything over 10 years old, they don't care about title/paperwork.

Pretty sure any S10 is gonna be old enough that they don't care. At least not in my area.

Literally asked he man a couple weeks ago.

Details of this clapped out S10? I happen to be a clapped out S10 connoisseur.
I know this truck he was my uncle. To discribe him as frugal is an understatement. This unit has had multiple transmissions and motors if I am not mistaken. The bed was always loaded and he would have done well to have used a ton truck, lol. He was a carpenter and wood working wizard. The datsun he used for years was operated at least a decade with the highway passing under your feet visable and very close!

He didn't drive it hard but it never was without the bed loaded and he drove all over creation. He formaned construction all over western North Carolina.

Last I remember the bed was failing and had buckled requiring quite a bit of "reinforcement". Knowing where he went and how he went in any weather I bet it has significant salt damage.

Haven't seen the truck in years. @lbyota85 Does this sound pretty accurate?

Yea pretty much. It has the 4 cyl engine. I’m pretty sure it had a broken timing belt or chain whatever those have. It spins over really free. It’s 2wd. Body, bed and interior are all basically trash. I’m in the process of cleaning up an old junk yard to build a house and have been digging stuff out of banks for months. I’m in the process of just filling the bed and cab with as much scrap and I can and pushing it up on at trailer and hauling it off. Got about 500 tires and wheels in a pile I’m trying to separate. It’s a lot of effort for the return but it’s better than a huge pile of tires in my front yard. Thanks for the replies.

What year we talking..... I got an 89 s10 that needs some some grill stuffs

Gordons is where i have hauled a few vehicles Landon.
I would drain and hole saw a hole in the fuel tank. Maybe drain the fluids in radiator and block.

I have only caught grief over not confirming the fuel was completely empty.

10-4. Yea that’s where I usually go.
It’s a 95 btw. Grill is busted though. I’m telling ya it’s pretty rough.
seems picture worthy😂

Just a word to the wise, if you take a vehicle to Gordon's you need to make a note of your weight when you weigh in and your weight when you weigh out and make sure you get paid for every pound. Sometimes they will pay you for an average weight. So if your car weighs 7,000 lb but the average weight of a vehicle is 4,000 lb you get paid 4,000, but if you throw fit they'll pay you for the $7000. They got sued and lost a while back and they don't want it to happen again.
