Just bought new seats for the YJ. What, if any, preference does everyone have for seat belts? I am looking at 4 point RJS belts with a quick release cam lock, but was wondering what the rest of you are using and how you like them.
Thanks
Steve

I have RCI harnesses and I like them. They are the latch and link style, not the cam lock. I can see how cam lock might be easier to get together but I worry they they might not work quite as well in mud, dirt rain, etc. Latch and link are simple and fail proof. Maybe somebody with actual cam lock experience can chime in and tell us that they work fine in an off road environment?

Even though they are 3" wide I've had passengers complain that their shoulders get beat up after a day of being banged around. You might consider those pads, at least for the passenger side. I tend to wear the lap belt all the time but I only wear the shoulder harnesses for the rough stuff. My passengers wear the shoulder harnesses all day and therefore need the pad more.

a guy on piratte has em. 49.00 a piece shipped. appear to be good harnesses.

Thanks! I went with the latch/link style. with the sewn on shoulders. Figured about the water and dirt as well and having to hook up all those belts everytime I get in and out of the jeep. Will see how they do.

I use the latch/link style in my cars as nhra/scca requires sfi approved belts. In the bronco I use corbeau 2" 3 points with an automotive style latch. By far the best/easiest to use/most comfortable harnesses I've ever used They just aren't approved...

Those are the ones we used at school for Formula SAE and Mini-Baja (think Formula-1 with a 600cc crotch rocket engine and a glorified go-cart with air shocks and a Briggs and Stratton 10 hp).

Mini-Baja got very muddy (pretty deep mud and we were only about 18" off the ground), and that cam latch was never a real prblem, but did get goobered up sometimes...

My only real complaint was the latch with a helmet on, but not an issue here.

will 4 pt. harnesses work with factory seats? i hate the factory shoulder belt when you get in weird positions..it locks every time.

lots of jeep seat belts available in the market. you may try searching ebay or local parts stores. I'm sure you'll find one. Just remember to look for the one best suited to your ride and the one which fits well. Seat belts is one important accessories in a car, so it is important to choose quality one.
