Ok, this comes from the issue of 4 or 5 pt harnesses being such a pain that most folks just end up using the lap belt 90% of the trail ride. And 4/5 pt harnesses that "move" like a regular seatbelt are harder to find and $$$$$
So...my question to the general tech population is this...why not add a second seatbelt going the other direction?
In other words, go to junk yard, buy a set of front seatbelts and the part they clip into, (don't forget the bolts)
Then take the passenger side belt and mount it via rollbar, etc so that it does an X across the driver? You would have TWO lap belts....and the X across your chest "should" hold you better in a flop/roll?
Am I a crazy man? Ok yes...but is this idea flawed, etc?
Biggest items would be a strong mount on the floor and rollbar and both will be 'custom' and need to be welded in. Other concerns?
[I have heard comments before about 4 pt harness that they need to be mounted basically at the TOP of your shoulder, otherwise compresses spine in rollovers...]
