Hitches...couplers...fifthwheel...kingpins....I don't know what they're called...

Got any pictures of them and the apparatus that controls their position lock. I don't know if I'm not calling them by the right term or what but I'm coming up empty on the searches I've tried...

I've only managed to get up close and check out a couple.

I need ideas for a scaled down version for my short bed truck.

Nobody makes a gooseneck hitch that slides 'in tow' and I don't want to buy that $3K auto slide fifth wheel craparatus...

Only ones I've seen have a pneumatic cylinder which seem to disengage two plates...is that all that holds all that weight?

The sliders on a 18 wheelers are manual. Driver pulls a rod to disengage the 5th wheel. The tandems on the trailer move too. With a rod that disengages pins. I can get you pictures of the tandems but not the 5th wheel. HTH

Fifth wheel or Long bed truck. All the fifth wheel hitches have a lock that lets the hitch slide. The auto ones have a wedge that bolts on behind the king pin. Then when you turn it binds up and makes the hitch slide. This would be hard to do with a goose. Hell you need a Long bed duelly. Dont let Sam out do you.

All the one's I drove were air powered from in the cab. Not something to move on the fly. To do it right, you take weight off the 5th wheel by lowering the landing gear.

Here you go. search "air slide 5th wheel"
