SFWDA dues are rising to $40.00 per year for 2008
Fighting to keep Tellico open will be expensive.
A note from the SFWDA Board of Directors:
Southern Four Wheel Drive Association Dues Increase
Statement to Membership from the Board of Directors
As we are sure everyone is aware, Southern Four Wheel Drive Association is a member association of United Four Wheel Drive Associations. One goal of the United Four Wheel Drive Associations is to bring together four wheel drive owners, like all of us, to share these stimulating experiences through organized events, like camping trips and weekend rallies. United also acts as our voice to keep 4x4 roads and trails open on a national and international level so that we can continue enjoying four wheeling in the great outdoors. Through our united efforts, the opinions and beliefs of four wheel enthusiasts are heard by land management agencies and by our elected officials. The United Four Wheel Drive Associations are a group of state, regional, provincial and national 4WD associations in the United States and around the world. United also encompasses various 4x4 clubs and businesses. United members span the globe from the U.S. and Canada, New Zealand, Australia, England, Japan, South Africa, and Iceland.
One question we sometimes get is “what is the benefit of being members of United”. Many of you may not be aware that United employee’s a full time attorney named Carla Boucher. Carla is very active and extremely knowledgeable of the laws that affect us. With the issues facing the Upper Tellico OHV Area, Carla has been heavily involved since the beginning and will be as we go forward to make our stance and fight these issues using her legal knowledge and expertise to help guide us. Those who are familiar with legal fees know the retaining an attorney is expensive and we are very fortunate to have access to this type of resource and that is just one of the benefits of being a part of United.
As in all of our lives, the cost of doing business increases daily. The same is true with United. United has been very prudent over the years about increasing membership dues. After reviewing the operating status of United and looking into the future, it has come time for an increase. United dues are increasing to $25.00 per member family. Southern forwards the membership dues to United and due to this increase, Southern dues are having to increase as well. Effective November 1st for the 2008 membership year, dues will increase to $40.00 per member family. We realized that is a step but strongly believe that it is the right move for the Association to keep pace and retain our membership in United. Please send your 2008 dues to our Director of Membership: Bob Sullivant, Attn: SFWDA Membership, 1271 Country Rd 358, Trinity, Alabama, 35673. You can also contact Bob at membership@sfwda.org.
We all like to ride and keeping areas to ride open by stating our opinions and promoting responsible motorized recreation should be all of our goal. Please understand and help support these efforts. This is your association
