I am about to SOA my junk. Been reading and debating the advantages and disadvantages of this mod. I feel like I've made my decision... but what do the ever knowledgable NC4X4 crowd think?

Rig is an FJ60 that has shackles up front stock. Dedicated trail rig with a tag that sees very little road time.

No need to bring up linked suspenion...

No reason not to do a SR in my mind. One of the main benefits is when climbing a ledge, the SR will allow the tire to move back as you climb versus pushing toward the obstacle.

Hopefully that makes sense...

Love the driveability of my yj. Too easy not to do.

Makes perfect sense. That is where I am at with it. I want to add a leaf to stiffen up the front to aid in climbing and reduce flex w stock springs. Also flip spring around to push axle forward.

The only advantage I see for SR is being able to slam into a rock and slide up on it.

For trail rig leave shackles out front. Loose some approach angle over rear shackles, but gain ground pressure and less front wheel hop, in my opinion. For more street driven rigs the shackles reversal is supreme.
