After several weeks of collecting parts, the Moss is running again!

Very long story short: #2 intake valve burnt, got a fresh set of heads from Jeeppower (thanks again Jim!), and finally got everything buttoned up this evening. InfantryYJ surprised me with a visit this afternoon to get the last of it back in place.

Had a scary moment after it had fired for minute... intense steam cloud from the drivers side exhaust! Crap, knew I must have botched the valleypan gasket or something, but it appeared to have been that pipe was full of AF... presumably run into it when the heads were pulled  Stopped steaming once the pipe got warmed up...

Still need to plumb in the Marquis MC and a few other adjustments to make the VA4WD Annual in 3 weeks, but at least it's "movable"! :driver:

Always good to hear of a project completed!
That hunk of metal will never be completed:flipoff2::flipoff2:
When the smoke started coming out, Dave almost cried as he thought he would have to tear into the intake:D, somebody suggested to just let it run a bit to see if it clears up and viola, it did;)

Dave... Ever seen Sea foam run through an intake? :D

Yes I have... unfortunately, this was *STEAM* = possible water jacket breach at the head or intake gaskets...

And since you asked for it!... Not quite as nice as "Bounty confetti" getting blown outta the pipes, but close!

Dan, no recent pics, but my brother managed to capture this from a June ride at RoyalBlue... Caver Dave (on 7 cylinders)

Well paper towels beat the heck out of ball bearings in the secondaries! Yep warped 4 cylinders worth of valves and beat the heck out of four pistons! all because:
The ex-wife's BF didn't like getting an ass whooping
they both new the Jeep was my toy
and, I couldn't resist opening up the four barrel once I hit I-40!

But as I mentioned before, good to see a project completed. Project meaning the head job and it running, any tru Jeeper knows a Jeep is never finished!

"minor" setback...

Decided to tackle the brakes last night. Hoping to find a pedal height adjustment common on early jeepsters, I laid under the dash for several hours. I didn't find the adj., but did find a bracket (happens to hang the pedal AND braces the firewall) with both tabs snapped off. Since it appeared to be adding major slop to the brakes, I spent about 2 hours getting it out, and fired up the Hobie for repairs.

A couple chunks of 3/16" stock were welded on the rear face (since I didn't want to change the spacing) and the tabs were gusseted to thwart future escapades pulling the SOB back out! Didn't feel like contorting any more, so I worked on slotting the '79 Marquis MC & setting the pushrod depth... got it bolted in place, and called it a night.

Tonight, I spent 45 minutes reinstalling the bracket, the WS wiper motor, guage cluster and all the other crap that had to be removed to get the bracket out to begin with. My son assisted with bleeding the MC and re-attaching the lines. Didn't have time to do more than move it a few feet, but WOW! the pedal feel & travel are improved about 300%.

Below is the Merc MC and OEM... If size and bore are any indication, it should be nice!

Oh, she'll stop now! Not exactly Cadillac like, but it'll bind her down much better than before with a lot less effort!

The MC/adapter/new fluid is the 2nd best $20 I've spent on her (1st best spent $20 was the used RS9000s! :flipoff2: )
