I just added a 3 inch suspension lift to a 2002 Jeep Wrangler that already had a 3 inch body lift. Having an issue with the shifter hitting the body. Does anyone know if I replace the shifter with a short throw shifter if this will fix the problem?

as stated above it would be easiest to cut down the body lift a little or just ditch it. the suspension lift should have nothing to do with it, its the body lift that is affecting the shifter

Unless he did a t-case drop with the lift kit.

I wouldn't imagine it needed a t-case drop with only 3" suspension, but it does sound that way.

I had a TJ with a 3" body, and no interference with the shifter, but I could imagine the t-case drop slightly changing the angle, but just enough combined with the BL to cause interference. With just the drop, or just the BL it would be fine, but the combination of the two made the interference.

The main problem does stem from the 3" body, remove it, and you should be fine, otherwise, find out exactly where the interference is, you may be able to remove the shifter, heat it and bend it.

trim the offending metal out of thee way....

I work with him and the lift had a t case drop and that is what the problem is now he wants to keep the body lift and fix the shifter some how

THat is what he did but he wants to put the OE console back in and it hits it too
Have you tried bending the shifter like posted above? Remove it, heat it, bend it so it clears.

Cable shift the tcase.
I think their issues are with the Tranny, not the Tcase, although you would think it would have even more issues combining the 3" body and Tcase drop.

i put a 3 inch body lift on a 89 yj and the kit came with a 3 inch extenson for the transfer case shifter, just a small peice of steel you cut your shifter in to and weld the extension in.
