OK, no one local wanted to buy the nav radio I had,
so I'm shipping it to Fl.
Anyone got any recommendations on best way to protect it?
I'm planning on (hoping to find) putting it in a static bag, (mainly just a thick bag) then some foam rubber underneath, with a cutout so it won't slide to the sides, fill the sides with either cut foam rubber, or peanuts or something.
then put foam rubber on the top?
Anyone know something better than this theory? or got a good place to buy good shipping materials?

Thanks.

(it's a ~1500$ radio, so I don't want it to break in transit)

uhaul and ups stores are a good place to buy the shipping stuff, in fact there is one over there by brier creek, close to the wolf camrea store.

also, make sure to get a fragle sticker

Yea,
they're just closed on Sundays.
Not that my dumb ass would drive out there, before looking up hours online or anything

(I couldn't tell if they were closed tomorrow or not, no sign, so I'm assuming they'll be open)

I would take it to the UPS store and have them pack and insure it that way if it is damaged they will cover it no questions asked since they can't claim that it wasn't packed properly since they packed it.

Buy the insurance too. That way if it gets caught in a roller or something you can reimburse the buyer. Might also email them the tracking number and such so they can track it. Lost $425 cause I didn't get a tracking # and UPS lost or damaged the tag. No way to make a claim without it.

make a note that after 30-60 days AFTER ups said he recieved it and he confirms it warrenty will be nulled. your luck 50 days he gets he finally installs it and it is messed up..
A) ups messed it up but they have a limit on how long they will refund your money
B) dude has it so long who knows what happened to it.

Yea, buyer paid for me to pick up 1000$ insurance on it.
And oh yea, not gonna lose that tracking number until he has it installed and knows it works. :)

thanks for the advice, and i guess now I just wait for them to open.

I believe the "Special" cutoff on insured packages is like 600 bucks, IE they dont particularly care about a package insured for 600 or less...anything more and they take damn special care of it..

Just wrap it up with the big bubble wrap about two times. Then stuff the sides of the box with more bubble wrap. I ship headunits out for repair a few times a week, and never had one come back with problems.
