Shipping Company

I have been searching for the best company to fit me shipping needs. Currently, I am interested in shipping several axles and winch bumpers but the shipping cost usually is the down side of it.

Each item will be shipped separately and I’m wondering what company to use for the best price.

I ship out a lot of items at my work using freightcenter.com, however sometimes I still think their prices are a little high. I have seen other companies shipping items thru FedEx or ups for much cheaper. I don’t have an account with FedEx or ups so that maybe an item I need to look into.

So list what shipping companies you’ve used, what you shipped, rough cost, and customer service and did the shipping part go smooth.

Thanks

Destination, how it's packed, class, etc all determine costs. It is hard to give $ without knowing these items.

Steel items and some car parts are likey all Class 50. Package them on a standard pallet and shrink wrap will make it cheaper.

Ive shipped a CJ roll cage on a pallet to Oregon for $65. Same cage to TN for $110. Market and fuel costs and the routes of the carrier play a role as well. If the carrier had to interline with another carrier, it could be more $.

If you drop off at terminal, it can be cheaper. If the receiver is at a residential address, it can get much more $ or sometimes not deliverable and must be picked up at terminal.

I've used AAA Cooper for most of my shipments and have averaged the best prices through them. I had an account and that helps a lot. UPS freight was used a couple times. OK but not the cheapest. R&L was used as well with success and reasonable in costs.

Check with usf Holland or Southeastern freight

Fastenal will ship stuff store to store on their delivery trucks. Some guys on a FB page I'm on say it is super cheap but shipping time can vary depending on how full the trucks are and how often they go to certain locations. Could be worth looking into if what your shipping isn't time sensitive.

I sent a 205 to Chuckman back around Christmas and used R&L but I have an account there.Res delivery adds $50 to the shipping w them.Ive used Old Dominion before but they were super picky about the palletizing.I understand they want things to not get damaged and have to pay but its kinda hard to hurt a 205 case.
