I'm closing in on needing to buy seats for my XJ. I'm going with suspension seats front and rear and need to come up with a way to mount the harnesses.

For whatever reason, a full interior cage does not appear to me. So for the sake of simplicity I am thinking about putting a spreader bar between the B pillars and one between the C pillars. This would be for nothing more then mounting the harness to.

I know it's not a full cage, but I'm not to the point where I want a full cage right now.

Go.

why do you not want a full cage in something your racing?

As long as you pick up enough of the b piller to support the tube it should be fine.

Nothing wrong with in my opinion just dont rig it in. The more solid the better because if it is a fixed back the you'll use that to mount the back of the seat. Doint this though is sure to shoot rear room in the foot though

Just use a large enough backer plate under it. Bend/wrap it around the pillar as needed, weld it in good.. No different than welding in tie plates to weld the cage to the floor. Spread the load out good..
