Yes, I should have done research... I learned my lesson

I had binding problems with the transfer case. I figured I would get the popular skyjacker bracket that takes the shifter off the body....

first off, they did not make one for an np231 , and they did not state this when I bought it. so I had to fab some..

no matter how much fabing I did it got worst... I called in help... still got worst. Now it works..... but I do not have a 2 high. (at least I can go wheeling in 2 low) oh.... and it is still binding... go figure

I am officially done with skyjacker ( I have had more then one problem with them)

How is the Novak shifter bracket?? many problems?? I want more then just what the sites says.

any other ideas?

hmm, I installed a skyjacker t-case shifter bracket on my rig when I had the skyjacker belly up tranny pan. I have had no trouble with the shifter. The belly up pan is a different story though, it bent the first trip out. I have since replaced it with a RE crossmember (including the RE long arm kit). still have the skyjacker t-case shift bracket, and I do have the np231

i had the advance bracket, worked perfectly for me. i now have the full replacement novak shifter. pretty happy with it. i had to mod part of it because with the flat belly it was binding up because of the angle. got it from andy at crs.

I have installed a pile of the skyjacker brackets on tj's with the 231 t-case with good results. You might want to double check your install.

it is me installing.... so I am sure I did something the screw it up

also. those that had good results... did you have the np231? I can not see how that little "shoe" they give you for the belly up skid helps with anything. also... cutting and welding is proably where I screwed it up.... once or twice

no, I got back from URE and just have cleaned off the mud.

What I plan to do.

Take it back apart, cut and weld in the correct place and not guessimate. (looks like I can learn stick weld on this...maybe) put it back together..cross my fingers.... and hope I did it right.... If I am still wrong... I will call for backup.

If it takes you guys 2 hours to do this... I expect it will take my procrasting self a few days..once I get started :D

you guys gotta remember that lauren is a girl, so some times she makes bad decisions in the case of choosing a skyjacker shift bracket instead of dropping the extra money on a novak shifter

If that doesn't work I'd really look into the novak shift kit for the 231, the one that replaces ALL of the linkages. I've got it on my ZJ and it shifts flawlessly and is adjustable to numerous different factors.

Welcome to the posting a few weeks late.
:flipoff2:

I think I'm going to go back to just a screwdriver and some channel locks. Worked great for about 3 months for me :D

oh, well that will suck, I have no press. a vise clamp and manual labor will not do it?

find somebody that has a torch you can borrow...

here's what mine ended up looking like:
