My Newbie questions continue to fill my head. Next on my list for the XJ is that it has a 6 inch rusty's lift and 35's. Is the SYE a necessity for this or is it something I will be fine without.

Yeah, what fatty said! I have 7" of lift with 35's and im glad i have it!

i grew up in lake wylie on montgomery rd. (about a mile from lake wylie woods)

for your question. 6" on an xj needs either a sye or a drop kit. I ran mine "rusty's 6" lift" with just a drop kit for a while and had only minor vibes from the rear. I had bad vibes on the front but it came from the front pinion angle so i fixed that with some adj. upper control arms. I ended up going with advanced adapters sye (from rusty's) and a tom woods shaft because i didn't like the amount of splines showing on the stock rear shaft.

good luck with the build. let me know if i can help, my shop is just down the road.

I know exactly where that is. I am moving back out to Union County soon but will be in LW until abuot October.

I appreciate that. I am going to order the SYE and Driveshaft but honestly I don't know if I can do the project myself. My mechanic skills are very basic. I have a full shop at home but some help with all this would be great. Just let me know how much I would owe you for the help if we could work something out. I hope to order that stuff in the next week or so as a trip to Windrock is coming up very soon.

just let me know if you want me to do it. the kit is not too bad if you have been inside a transfer case before...but can be quite intimidating if you havn't. Just time consuming.

Yeah ill order it and get up with you. I would appreciate the help. Ill try to get it ordered soon.

Hey more people from around lake wylie, i live right on the north carolina side of the bridge

Uwharrie isnt too far but I would like to head down to gulches (somewhere down in SC) soon.

Hey Lake Wylie folks!! Im in the process of moving back there this month. I will be all settled in at the end of the month. Hey i wouldnt mind getting up with yall when you do the SYE install. Hit me up!

Why don't we have a little get together for the people from this area (or whoever wants to meet) one of these weekends. I wouldn't mind having some people over here and having a bbq and whatnot cause I don't know but a few people from this board.

how about meeting out at the farm in lincolnton this weekend? Iknow its a little drive from the lake but some of us will already be there. I'll be there for a little while on sat. in the xj.

Licolnton.. Wow that is a lil hike. I dont think I will be able to manage that, but Michael or my place would be good places to meet. My neighbor in lake wylie works on trucks as well (more for speed) but we just got him into 4x4s as well. So its my wrangler at the last house, the next neighbor with his lifted sahara, and my other neighbor next to him with some bad ass old Ford truck (and he has some friend with a big @ss suburban). Either way, there are alot of nice decked out 4x4's just in my neighborhood alone. I would like to get to know these people as well as yall. Lets make something happen this weekend, I have free time and ill introduce everyone to the Lake Wylie folk. Cheers

clover/ wylie 4wd club?

Hey y'all, A little off subject, but I have met quite a few wheelers in this area. I live in Clover, & work in Lake Wylie (near the bridge). I met A guy last week, I'm terrible at remembering names, He drives A 4 cyl Yj it's red with a lift. He knows Someone in Rockhill, with A yellow jeep, & lives in lake Wylie woods. I have met ( user names, i can remember for some reason), 99ncxj, skyhik5, yellowjeep, every one that came to wranglin101's event, 66bronco, webbinator, & some others on this board. Most live in York county S.C., or nearby. Been thinking we should all get it together, & start some kind of club. Not sure how to go about it. post up, If you are interested, or have advice on what it might take. WCURoverd90, Not trying to threadjack, just saw locals on here, that I haven't talked to before. I'll start A new thread, if you want. Paul

Hey jason, I did some research on this, & believe Advance Adapters, makes the best sye, for the money. American parts, & new shaft is larger diameter than chinese ones, also heat treatment is better due to U.S. standards.

dude your thread seriously got hijacked
Hey Michael, I haven't forgotten about you, Just not been able to get the 2nd cheeseburger cruise in together.

Hey Y2k, Yeah, it was James. He stalked me, as I walked out of work. Is that your jeep? Can I take A cell phone pic? (Brought the chuckles). Nice guy though, & I do the same damn thing to other jeepers. I think I have seen you on Rt. 49 a few times. I saw your thread yesterday, & am going there now.
