If you install a sye do you need a new driveshaft or will the stock bolt back in with no problems??

on a jeep cherokee you can get a SYE and use a front shaft

Go more than 4" and you'll need an SYE
You can use the stock front shaft and have it shortened if it is an internal SYE, But if you go w/ a hack and tap type you'll need a flange style cv
