Hey... it's a (two)wheeling event, right?
Anybody in to it?
Sounds like a kick-a gathering of chopper heads. It has been around Salisbury the last couple years but this year has turned into a week long event that starts in AZ and culminates at the Rock. BIG BONUS... Wheels Through Time Museum, which is now closed to the public, will open for the participants.
I plan to ride my Triumph chop to Maggie Valley on Thursday and then join the final leg of The Long Road to the Rock on Friday.
Anybody else?

I used to go every year but it has gotten way too commercial and way too many posers. It used to be about garage builders and now it is about $5 water bottles, chaps-wearing soccer moms and builders spending $20K.

i thought about ridin the ol' shovel out there, but right now i'm really trying to save money. i still may go though. i think it's like $35 for the whole weekend. i'm with you though, preacher, it is getting too commercial now. with all the cookie cutter bikes these days. i rebuilt mine in the basement and me and my roommate built his '71 shovel bobber in the kitchen.

I hear that comment all the time, and I still can't figure out what the F it means. Since NASCAR has gone commercial does that suck? Since WEROCK, UROCK, THEYROCKwhatever has gone commercial, does that suck? Does that same mentality apply at the Charlotte AutoFair? If somebody happens to have a lot of disposable income to piss away on a high dollar McChopper and go play Easy Rider, then so be it. Does that make them any worse (or better) than the next guy that has to build his ride from the scrap pile? I couldn't give a rat's A either way. They're all fun to look at. I ain't skeered to park my junk next to that nice stuff, either.
Also, I might add that ANYBODY that wears chaps in 80 degree weather is an idiot in my book.
Here's my ride... see ya there.

Dude.... hate to break it to you, but Nascar SUCKS.

Yes, going commercial, for an event like this, is a bad thing.
Why? Because the people who actually build and wrench on their bikes start staying home or start going elsewhere.

Look at Daytona. Look at Myrtle, Look at Sturgis. They went from being a cool place to hang out with like minded people to being a place where the fucking trailers outnumber the bikes, where your status is determined by how many bits of MoCo gear you can layer on your pasty ass or how many chrome bits on your stock, factory bike.

This event created to ecourage and celebrate the garage builder, the small bike shops, the real innovators.

Instead, you get the fucking shitbirds with deep pockets who strut around telling everyone how much cooler they are because the bike they BOUGHT, not built, not designed, BOUGHT is so cool because they have a 500mm rear tire and a $60K paintjob.

Yes, going commercial SUCKS. Everyone wants to make a buck, but that doesn't mean I have to throw MY hard-earned cash into the pockets of those who make a living on suckers.

I am not saying folks shouldn't go, just that I am not going anymore because I would rather spend my money on an event that hasn't sold out.

Very well put sir.

I am in to a different type of motorcycling (sport bikes, 2004 Triumph Daytona 600 street fightered and frankenstined). Most people ride because they think it makes them look cool and it has nothing at all to with the love for riding.

All I got to say is fuck those pansy ass faggots that spend 5 hours polishing their bike only to ride 5 miles to bike night, stand by their bike the whole time, ride 5 miles home, and polish their bike again when they get home. These are the same fags who trailer their bike to bike weeks and push it further to get it off the trailer then they actually ride the entire time they are there.

Everyone that rides, rides for different reasons. I get that and respect that. I also don't care if you spend $100 or a $100k dollars on your bike as long as you ride it for some other reason then you think it makes you look cool and raises your social status. Too many little faggots out there that buy $30k bikes and are still breaking it in a year later.

If this pisses you off, then you fit the profile.

And yes, NASCAR sucks:wheel:
