I've never been one "have" to go anywhere when there is snow or ice on the roads. I'd just as soon stay home. I have five running 4x4's here at the house, so it's not like I can't get out.

I took the dog for a walk a bit ago, and I see, of all my neighbors that have come and gone (tracks)...it's the 2wd folks trying to go anywhere...everybody in my neighborhood that has a 4x4 is staying in.

Hmmmmm.

some folks have to be able to go, you can't keep them in, if they can't go anywhere, they feel trapped and start to panic.

I have one on my street, if the engine cools of, they have been home too long.

To the store to get smokes, a little while later, to get beer, then go get dinner.

we live 5 miles from the closest store, 12miles from the closest town. I've never figured it out, thought they wonder why they have no extra cash.....

I drive a 2wd lowered Silverado. I went grocery shopping at 9am this morning. Had 0 problems, just know when to let off the gas and it's cake. My lower valence on the front bumper did serve as a plow a time or two though. :flipoff2:

My neighbors across the street are like that.In and Out In and Out.All day long.Saw him out there this morning trying to get his Mini Van out of the Ditch......He looked cold.

When ''all'' the roads get bad, even the interstates..thats when I am on the go.
You cant keep me home, but...my jeep wont gop right now..lol It wont stop either.

I just hope the wifey dont go into labor.<--not kidding.

Dylan you know enough guys around the area that have 4x4s, i *think* you could get a ride...

about 10 or the BDB rode all over alexander/wilkes county last night. miles of untraveled gravel roads with 10+ inches of snow on alot of them. i got in last night about 2am and by this morning all the local roads were clear so glad we had our fun last night.

Used to go out myself when I was younger and ride all night pullin people out of ditches n stuff, really fun if it was deep. Also used to love ridin up through Bakersville to Roan Mtn., it gets real deep up there with the snow drifts. Good times!

I'm home for the holidays and if I had brought the rig then I'd be out there BS'ing around, looking for trouble.

But instead, I've got a 2WD sedan. You know my butt is parked inside all day.

On top of that, I filled up the wood box yesterday BEFORE the sky started falling. Bestest pre-plan ever.

I had to go out this afternoon to see my dad. We got back and I'm gonna just sit and drink some coffee and watch the wife and daughter build a snowman. No need to go out. Tomorrow will be fun I get to go to work and try the new Ford Tranist Connect in the snow and morning ice. Good thing it's a company van...

If it is mild snow/ice, I will stay in because all of the idiots will be out sliding all over the place. Only when it gets real bad will I get out. All of the idiots are already in the ditch.

Driving on snow is no problem. It's going to be the next couple mornings when you'll have to watch for ice that the issues are going to arise.

I'm originally from Colorado so snow doesn't keep me from getting out. If I need to go get something, I just go. I've always had an operable 4wd until these last 2 years but the 2wd 4runner on bfg all terrains goes really well in the slick stuff. Like today, I needed to go get groceries but what I was worried about was all the other people in the store clogging up the checkout lines, not the snow.

The worst part for me was drifting my 'yota onto hwy 70 and trying to keep it on the sheet of ice that had reappeared between the last plow and 6:30 am, while being passed by retards in minivans and honda accords keeping the speed limit. My foul weather driving ability doesnt' worry me, it's the stupid people that refuse to slow down. I like me way too much to be okay with being a possible target.

I'm another transplant (From Wisconsin), so the snow and ice doesn't bother me...but what does bother me are the other people that can't/don't know how to drive in it. Yesterday morning alone, my butthole puckered 3 times because an oncoming vehicle would see me coming, they'd hit their brakes and then start sliding. I go about my day as regular, in these conditions. Yesterday, I made $100 getting people unstuck (I didn't ask for the money, but when they asked what they owed me, I said I don't charge, but I do take donations). So for me, it's not so much that I have to get out, as much as it's not gonna stop me from accomplishing what I was gonna do anyway.

BTW...right behind my work building (Food Lion corporate), some 'poor' guy was illegally trying wheel some of the land that's being cleared, and he didn't get more than 50 yards. Looked like a really nice XJ though.

Back in high school I used to get in my CJ5 and drive around Hickory pulling people out with my winch. I used to not charge but quickly found that being mr good samaritan was not very profitable and people just abused the equipment, etc. So, I normally got about $50 per car. made some good $$$ during those days :)

Now, I just take the buggy out to "play", I mean, um, to the "store" :D

im one of those idiots i guess, just as soon as the snow started to let up i hit the road yesterday.

I had the golf cart out at about 10:30AM yesterday. Fun but very cold. 12mph is just the right speed to freeze your a%& off. well worth it! :driver:

i rode my truck most of the day. i tried to ride my fourwheeler but the damn snow was so deep it kept piling up infront of me and blowing in my face.

i had to get out for a bit. the gf got me a camera mount for the truck and i did a little testing. not too bad, but i need to play around with it and find the best place to mount the camera and upgrade the memory card so i can record for longer than about 6 minutes.

trails were very tight with snow on all the branches.
