... and made a few changes.

First I got a new set of rubber.

Then I got rid of a lot of rust-outs on the right rear panel. As it happened, they had one from an S10 Blazer that was supposed to be for someone else's truck who never showed up. So they cut a piece out of that and welded it into mine, and voila. Then they painted the whole thing OD green for me.

The running boards are some heavy-duty brackets, two lengths of 5/4" x 6" x 8' pressure treated decking and some rubber pads from Northern Tool. And yes, those tires ARE 235/75R15's. They have 'em in 30's and 31's, too.

Not too shabby, huh?

I hope you didnt spend much.

they got paint on your new tires....

Well I have to admit I have never seen a set of runing boards/steps made out of wood before

I know. I looked all over but nobody had anything but these new tube types. Not the look I wanted.

No, I did that. MAACO didn't paint the wheels, and I'm not about to dismount those tires and then mount 'em again just to do that. I figure it'll wear off eventually.

Body work and paint was $1500 and change, but would've been a lot more if they hadn't already had a right rear quarter panel on hand. I figure it was a deal.

The running boards cost under $100 including six heavy brackets. Beats the hell outta over $300 installed, maybe more.

And what the hell, I LIKE IT, and that's what counts.

maybe its just the light but that dont look like od green
I know, it's really more of a Forest or Hunter Green. That's what they mixed up, though, and it'll do until I get around to putting on my own camo pattern.

Get some lift under it an your done. Not bad so far. I dont know how far the wood would go if you take it wheeling though, one good rock will snap that in two with the weight of the truck. Thrash it and lets test it out!

I thought of that, but it's what I could do right now. Maybe I'll see if I can find some more angle iron...

nice rig..

Wow.
I am NEVER going to MAACO.
Did they tape off on any surface that wasn't glass? Good grief. They even sprayed the damn bumper D-rings, how long will that last?

FYI, for $60 I bought enough steel for my rocker panels and they won't be eaten by termites.

Come on RatLabGuy, the boards were treated and the D rings do look good painted and will keep down the rust.:flipoff2:

If you like it, then it looks awesome!! Congrats on a good lookin rig and hope it gives you many years of great service :)

They painted everything because I told 'em to. The paint on the rings will last until it gets worn off by using them, and so what?

I got three more lengths of angle iron today, from the same place, for $40. They're already painted blue so no rust, and the ends are cut off at an angle so they'll even have a bit of a "custom" look to them. All I gotta do is drill some holes, paint 'em green, and bolt 'em on, then go get some more of those rubber pads at Northern. And what, you ask, did I get a third one for?
