This is pretty far off topic, but I know there are some computer guru types here that might be able to help me out.
I'm working on some instructional videos for work. I need to be able to record my computer screen while I navigate through a website and fill out some forms. Then I need to record a voice-over so I can talk people through the process.
I've been playing with the 30-day free trial of a program called Camtasia Studio. It does everything I need. Unfortunately, the free version only saves to a proprietary file extension, or as AVI files. Their file extension doesn't work with youtube, Media Player, etc (which is what I need), and the AVI files are half the quality as the original.
The full version of Camtasia will do exactly what I need, but I don't have $300 in my budget... especially not for software I'm only going to use once. Are there other decent "freeware" screen recorders out there?
