I've been digging around trying to find a solid Axle Yota and it seems they are all gone or just priced more than I want. I did find a couple of custom trucks, one in Charlotte more of a show truck. The other was in Denver Co. I think 1979 restored just under $30k. Maybe I'm being unrealistic or Old school with a small budget!?!?

Toyota trucks are stupid expensive now.

Most of the pre Tacoma trucks are easy to swap an axle in 🤷🏼‍♂️

Good luck!

90% of all old toyota trucks have ended up in 3 places
- rusted to peices and are long gone to scrappers
- restored and collectors prizes selling for $15k+
- beaten up / used hard as offroad toys.

So that means either its gonna be a case of unknown problems from POs booty-fabbing stuff together or you spend a lot of money. There are exceptions butt hey are few and far between.

If yo ureally want a solid axle to use as your youwn offroad platform, as @ponykilr suggested your best bet is to get an IFS rig thats in OK shape and SAS it.

S10 or ranger will be cheaper. 4.3 v6 in the s10 is an sbc clone, 4 cylinder rangers with the Lima engine regularly last for 300k miles. unless you just want a toy to play with

Both have good aftermarket support for v8 swaps and 4wd versions have standard steering gears that make solid axle swapping easier. I wouldn’t try to convert a 2wd ranger with a rack and pinion
