I didn't know driving it would stop rust. I thought that a rattle can before rust showed might help, but if just driving helps I've been doing it wrong this whole time.

Is this just me?

i'm not trying to defend him, obviously the owner is an idiot.
However I'll bet what he meant was, "I don't drive it enough to warrant worrying about rust." I.e., inhibiting rust takes time/effort and it dosn't see enoug hroad time to be worth it to me.

Just my guess.
