To me yesterday. A good friend of mine Andy, formerly on this board as yellowhood, sold his S-10 hybrid and bought a quad racer. He has been practicing and been in a few races. He was in one yesterday just a few miles from me. So I went to watch him. It was a long course, it took them about 20 mins to run a full lap. So in between I was driving around looking some. I drove My Heep down there since it was so close. I noticed up on the hill a guy waving, looked around, and realized it was me he was waving at, so I was thinking, opsss maybe I shouldn't be driving here. So, was ready to take my scolding, I drove up to where he was. Sure enough, it was the land owner, the one hosting the race. He said " you are the fellow that lives out on the end of Goldmine Rd, right?"
I said yes, I am. So he continues to tell me a little about how the race thing all got started, and then told me he would like to develop a rock crawling area too!
WOW, now that would be great I told him.
He pointed off in the distance and told me to drive out there and see what I thought. So I did, come across some markers and wasn't sure if it was still his land or not, so I stopped, and turned around. I told him about it and told him I would come back another day and he could ride with me and we can scope it all out. Now this isn't a small track of land, there are several thousand acres easy. as a matter of fact, a whole mountain is involved!
So not sure if it will develop, or if the terrain will be what some of us seek, but for a land owner to open his land to the thought is a great beginning!
I will keep you posted and I am sure some input, some work days and so on will becoming.
I myself am stoked! something this close to me would be great with fuel prices and so on. And I know many of you would like new places as well.
So, until I hear more, be praying to the Four wheeling gods!
