I'm headin down to pull a part tommorow afternoon to get some stuff for the blazer and since goin to pull a part is like a frackin day trip for me figured I should be on the look out for anything I could use cause I prob won't be goin back again for a while, lol.

Is their a certain vehicle that has a rather large tranny cooler that pull a part might have that I should look out for to run on the blazer (4.3 Vortec/4L60E)??

Thanks

Dang man now thats creative! I was looking online and saw a couple people using air conditionin radiators in thier 1 ton tow rigs as trany coolers. Thats a little too large for me, however I saw mid 90's explorer tranny coolers mentoined twice, so I'm thinkin I might look around for one of those unless someone knows of a better one?

Considering a brand-new cooler costs less than $100, and a new transmission costs $400 at a bare minimum, I'd highly recommend calling Summit or another shop of your choice and get a cooler in the mail.

There's no sense in grabbing a cooler from a used car. A stacked-plate cooler is basically trash once it's been used.... it's difficult to ensure that it's 100% clean inside. You can flush tube-and-fin coolers with some success, but why bother when new ones are cheap?

Yea I guess but I could get a pretty large one from another vehicle for like 20 some bucks with a warranty so if it doesn't work I can take it back . . . .

Yea I'm pretty cheap, lol, but yea since you can get the warranty from pull a part for like a couple bucks more if it doesnt work out I can always take it back.

well i learned something there. didnt know they warrantied parts at a pick and pull. i see, i see...

The only way you're going to know it "doesn't work" is when some trash comes loose, catches in the transmission somewhere inconvenient, and you burn up the trans.

And the JY won't pay for the damage to your trans.

I bought a B&M cooler at Auto Zone for about $50. It's big.

Yeah, and the warranty just replaces one used part with another. Stacked plate coolers work best, but I wouldn't use one from an unknown source.

A cheap tube & fin one in front of your rad should work well enough if you're properly geared.
