Space for a big guy?

First post on here. Ok I have owned a CJ-5 and had to cut 4 inches into the driver side rear wheel well to make room for the seat to go back so I could fit. I am 6'5 290lbs in a CJ-7 or wrangler would I have to do this, or would I fit? Or should I look at an XJ I know I fit in those.(would rather have a CJ7 though)

I fit in a cj7 pretty darn good 6'4" 245. I can barely fit in my cj5. I think I need to move the seat back.

I'm 6'2 and fit in my CJ5 pretty good. Much taller and I'd think it would be uncomfortable

im 5'8 165 lbs and i got all kinds of room in my wrangler but i can touch the pedals with the seat all the way back so you might have a little bit of trouble

6' 285-300lbs here.. Fit in my CJ7 and YJ Wrangler just fine

Wheel base on a CJ-5 is 84"
Wheel base on a CJ-7 is 94"
Almost all of the extra length in the CJ-7 is in the seat area. With a tilt steering column you should be just fine.

Just wondering..... Have you ever tried to fit in a miata?

6' 330 lbs., fit into my YJ fine with seat all the way back. Beer gut occassionaly rubs, but I don't think it's the steering wheel's fault...

Ya I have sat in a miata. Had to put the top back to fit otherwise had to side with my head sideways. Thanks for the help with this, looking at a 1990 wrangler this weekend and still looking for a quality cj7. You should see my in the back seat of a civic.
