the movie was pretty good. however at the end credits maggie said "sequel" and marge said it was her first word. incorrect. maggie said "daddy" a long time ago but no one was around to hear it.

i'm a dork.

so if a tree fall in the woods & nobody is around to hear it does it still make a noise:lol:

Technically, it makes compression waves, but not sound.

And Chuck, I know exactly the episode you refer to. Make that 2 dorks.

I too remember the exact Daddy episode...

I have been waiting to see this, shall soon.

It a pretty good movie. I am not a huge Simpsons watcher, but enjoyed it.

I too remember that episode. I thought it was ok. It could have easily just been a three episode mini-series and saved me 8 bucks. It wasn't really funnier then a normal episode

now that i'll agree with.
i thought for all the hype behind the movie, and all these years they could have been planning a simpsons movie, that this just kinda fell short.
it was funny, but i was expecting more.

Why, exactly? I walked in expecting it to be just like The Simpsons, but for 90 minutes. And that's just what it was. Why would you expect a movie cartoon to be any different from a 30-minute version of exactly the ssame thing? It's all the same charactar,s expect the same jokes, etc etc.

They've found a style and format that has lasted and worked well for 20 years. Why would you change anything?

well you've got to admit that some episodes are above average and some are kinda "eh".

i just thought with the time, money, and talent they have, that they could have made a movie that had my face and belly hurting from laughing so much.

*not saying i didn't enjoy it, just saying it could have been better*

I think a lot of us die-hard, watched 'em since the Ullman days, fans were a little disappointed. I thought, (and David can disagree,) that it was a great movie if you've never really been a watcher. If you were, then you were expecting more. Part of it may have been the fact that so many of us sat around for months before the movie saying "do you think they're gonna do this, do you think they're gonna do that?" Speculating on who was going to say what, etc.

The fact is, the show hasn't been as funny for a while now. I tried to disagree when people said that, but it's true. Watch some old episodes, then catch some of the newer ones. They're just as poignant and socially observant, but for some reason, not quite as funny. I think this was the case with the movie.

If a woman speaks in the woods, and there's no one to hear her, is she still complaining?

yeah, the early days were slapstick and while funny uninspiring[I mean eat my shorts is funny....1 time] then from the late 90s through the early 00s, they mixed slapstick with poignant, intelligent political and sociological satire and became historically significant as a literary work.
Now sadly they are in their downward spiral.
With another election approaching, they have done it before, the Treehouse of Horrors has milked halloween dry, etc.

I kinda expected thee movie to be an epic wad shooting crescendo, but I have been told I will be disappointed. I have not yet decided whether to watch it in theaters or not.

My opinion of TV-turned-big screen is that the first opening of the movie is the death knell for the show. Now I don't watch the Simpsons, I have seen it numerous times just not a fan. Oh well, maybe when the movie runs on cable...
