I think that that last time my knuckles and spindles were apart was 1979. They aren't budging. I hit them with some WD-40 ( PB-Blaster is empty) I'd prefer to not wreck them taking them out. I have a Deadblow that i am wacking it with but it makes me worry. any suggestions?

I assume this is on your 79 bronco you have in your sig? a Dana 44 right?

Keep beating them with the deadblow...put the hub nuts back on the threads though so you don't somehow whack 'em flat.

If it comes down to it...get a chisel or two in between the knuckle and the spindle...just make sure you grind down the ridges you made in the back of the spindle/knuckle before you put it back together.

Also...if the studs aren't perfectly straight it'll make the spindle hard to get all the way off....might want to knock the studs out then try and get the spindle off...I'd try the chisels first though...

goodluck

yea it is the dana, good idea on putting the nuts back on. yea i have already driven the studs back out. we'll see if this works.

Air chisel works wonders

You could just go buy spindle puller at advance or auto zone, thats what i did and then i rented a slide hammer from there. came right off. Nice tool to have on the trail.

x2 on the puller & slide hammer thats how shops do it,put some anti-seize on the mating surfaces when you put it back together, next time it taps right off real easy

finally got it. the caliper bracket and spindle came off together. at least it came off. now i have my shafts out I can start the gear swap.
