Anybody have a link to a chart or calculator for impact strength of different diameter/thickness sq tubing?
e.g. I'd like to see the diff between say 1/8 vs 3/16 vs 1/4 wall 2" vs say 1/2" flat stock

It depends on which way you're talking about bending it, obviously... and all my junk is packed up. But I'm going to throw a WAG out there and say that anything with a 2" section depth is going to have a higher moment of inertia than a piece of 1/2x6" stock laid on the flat side.

Take the width of the section times the height cubed, divided by 12. That should get you close. If it's a tube, subtract the section of the hollow part. Either way, I'm getting .75 for the flat stock and about 5 for the tube. Somebody with an engineering degree should check my math. I don't have to do this stuff on a regular basis.
