SS LTB tires

trying to get my long range plans squared away, I am planing on doing a sas on my 88 toyota P/U and regearing to 5.29. Has anyone used the Super Swamper LTB? I am thinking about running the 34x10.50 instead of a 33x12.50. I plan on doing a 4" lift.(if it will be high enough to clear the 34's). looking for some input as i am pretty new to this. thanks
 
I ran 33x13.50x15 LTB's on my 01 TJ and while the grip off road was fantastic, the on-road drive sucked. They were out of round and a pain to balance. I changed to a set of BFG KM2's and the on-road drive was enjoyable again. Made a huge difference. I kept the LTB's so I could swap them out when I take the TJ on the trails if I don't like the KM2's.
 
I recommend running rear toyota springs up front when you do your sas and trimming your fendersfor any additional clearence. I'm running rears up front with Bud Built bananna shackles and 63"s in the back and it works out to an estimated 5" lift that works very well for me. Not sure about the LTBs, I've never own a set, but I have run SX's and TSL's and they have done me well.
 
Rear springs in the front will net too much axle wrap from my experience, unless you run an anti wrap bar. A Toyota is not like a jeep in terms of lift as in you don't have to lift it 14 1/2 inches to clear 31s.

Heres one of mine with rears up front and 63s in the back for a total 3.5-4 inches of lift with no trimming....running 37x12.5-16.5.

I am looking to go to the 40" ltb's when I can. I love them. they are not a road tire, as was said, but for a tough off road tire, there are few that compare.
I know Brandon (91oneton) has swapped the Irocs to LTBs on his buggy and has been very happy, even after losing 2" of height.

I run LTB 34 x 10.50's and I love them, they take me where I want to go.... You need to grove them to get the best traction... I drive mine on the road all time and no balance issues at all...... I use one 6 oz bag of Equal Tire Balancer in each tire, once the tire warms up and the flat spots go away it rides smooth....
 
As i forgot to mention this is also my run around and hunting truck so it does see some short road trips, thanks for the input

This suspension rides real nice on the road also. If you don't like the axle wrap or whatever of the rear springs up front, you can easily add leafs as needed to attain your desired results. Way cheaper than buying expensive and stiff aftermarket springs.

LTBs will do ok on the road as long as you keep the balanced, keep an eye on the PSI, and rotate them regularly. They are just like TSLs as in what you give up for road performance they make up for in off-road capabilities. And price wise the LTBs are the best bang for the buck.

One thing to remember, LTBs and IROKs are made in china unlike all the other Swampers which are made in the USA.

I have a set of 34x10.50 17's on my F-250 and I like them. I got them from a freind who ran them on his F-150 and had alot of problems but he also drove like hell every where. My truck weighs more and I just try not to go for extended periods above 60 and have had minimal problems. Id say there more well suited for lighter trucks but they dig like no other.
 
I'm running the 34x10.50 LTBs on my XJ. I love them but they chunk up very easily. I am pretty hard on my rig and spin my tires on the rocks quite a bit. They are phenomenal in the mud, suck in wet sand (these things really dig deep), work extraordinarily well on rocks and look great. They aren't overly loud on the road either. About what you'd expect from an aggressive tire. Mine seem to balance okay even with beadlocks, but I don't drive much more than 45 mph on them and only short distances. There are no weights on my wheels.
 
This might be a stupid question, do they come in a radial?

The closest thing to an LTB Radial is the TSL Radial.

What air pressure does everybody run in them on the road?

I run 26 pounds (cold) in my TSLs (aka expensive LTBs) on the road. For my truck it gives me the best even wear pattern. They spin easier at 30lbs, but the tread won't wear as evenly on my truck. It is different for each vehicle, so you will probably have to play around with the numbers before you find what is right for your vehicle.
