did a search...not much on this forum on it
just looking for some input

drove jeep to get lunch...about a 5 minute drive. went inside came back out jeep wont start. has power, all gauges work etc etc. 2 month old battery. wont start. starter doesnt even click.
i know what a bad starter sounds like...dont think its that.
i shifted all gears...have a feeling its the nss. anybody have this experience? any simple test to confirm?

(i have a broken elbow so i cant do any crawling under the jeep to take out the nss.

should i rule out the cps?

thanks for any ideas.

NSS would be my guess. MY ZJ does it from time to time. I just slap the shifter up into park pretty hard and try again. make take a couple smacks, but it'll hit the switch.

Good news is, that the NSS on the aw4 is pretty cheap and easy... I just haven't bothered to replace mine yet.

Yea, it sounds like the NSS.
Not sure (can't remember and trying to block out all those pictures) which elbow, but I'd try smacking it into park, or starting it in nuetral.

It is easy to replace, and there is even a good chance you can just take it off, spray it clean and it will be fine.

haha, left elbow...so i can try the shifter...but i did wiggle it a good amount and nothing.

i just want to start it and get it home. dont really care to correctly fix it right now.

not the CS it would turn over. You will need to crawl under it to see if starter is getting power from switch. if it is, starter, if it is not, could be NSS.

Mine did the same thing about 2 months ago. everything worked except my starter.

Turned out to be my ground was not good enough. Check your wires since you just installed a new battery

ok i let it sit for a few hours and went back and it cranked right up. not sure if something in the starter or nss was too hot or what. oh well.
