So I'm building a jeep yj..linked front stretched about 4 inches ..has dana 60 front if it matters..I read about doing the chevy astro van steering box swap onto the yj...my concern is the angle of the drag link (front to back not up and down) on the drag link from pitman arm to my high steer arm.
Seems to me it should be straight or as close as possible. .but maybe I'm over thinking this?

Yes you want it as straight and square as possible.

So how are people using astro van boxes on a yj? If so go any further forward with my axle it's going to be hitting the radiator...or is this just one of those urban legend things..people talk about doing it but no one actually does it

There are pictures of Astro van box with xj front springs. Not sure total front stretch #'s, don't remember off hand.

You will have to have some angle on drag link to hight steer arm, other wise at full lock, drag link will contact tie rod. Also be weary of tie rod contacting Pittman arm shaft at full bump. This typically becomes an issue when minimizing the angle of the drag link to high steer arm.
