Can you swap them 1:1 ?
Bearings better in the new one?
What else?
(Assuming the same spline count, the bolt pattern and all that stuff......)

What are they out of?

Both out of a Chevy 2500/3500, like 2006-ish up, faze in slowly......

i do know this, the 'old' style has been around for as long as i remember, 50 years...... (sp, grammar)
I have them both apart, the one is id10t proof, o-ring for almost everything.... half the time to fix....
but...... is it worth it?
did they use newer larger bearings ?
longer shaft ? double bearings?
stuff like that....
