steering problem help

I have hydro assist on my jeep and when turning sometimes it feels like something is sticking. i can feel sort of a surge while turning the wheel and sometimes it will lock up. Just wondering what people thought might be the problem. My guess would be the pump but just not sure.

I know Rich reworked his pump fittings to get more flow for his 4 wheel steer application. Are you using the factory fittings on the back of the pump?

It might be the hoses supplying your cylinder are collapsing when there is negative pressure. I dont have hydro assist but i know that the same is true with any hydraulic system that has worn out hoses.
