I have a 84 chevy 3/4 ton truck, when cold, steering works fine but after you drive it a few miles and it gets hot the steering gets sloppy, and it's almost imposible to turn at low speed,is this the gear box, pump or both???

Sounds like fluid is burnt, possibly the pump.
I would drain the fluid, blow it out of the steering box too. Refill and see how it does. Do you have a cooler on it? If not easy to do with a tranny cooler from auto parts. Leaks? What size tires are you running? condition? pressure? All of this has bearing on the performance of your PS

No cooler, pump was leaking, replaced along with fluid, running 44" tires now but had trouble before I lifted the truck, just don't drive it much, and wont until I can fix it.Can't afford 800 to 1000 bucks for hydro assist kit, and don't know if I really need all that?? Thanks for feed back!!!

YOu can do hydro assist for a lot less than you think. I did my own for around $100 total. Rockstomper sells the same thing I did for $180 I think. Cooler, cheap too. decent cooler for $40.
low pressure line, just a few $$
